As we digest the happenings, rip up our rankings, and mocks, we can now look at the landing spots and draft capital of the defensive players after the first round of the 2025 NFL draft.

So, as we prepare for our 2025 IDP rookie drafts, here are my reactions to the best and worst spots from Round 1.

Travis Hunter, CB/WR, Jacksonville Jaguars

The Browns traded down 3 spots to grab a few more draft picks, which allowed Jacksonville to leap frog up to the 1.02.

The Jaguars getting Travis Hunter is probably, in the words of HHH from The Authority, best for business. If he landed with the Browns, I think he’d be more WR with a few snaps sprinkled in at CB. The Jaguars have to provide help for Trevor Lawrence, who’s been far from a generational QB, and he provides an upgrade at CB.

Hunter’s ball skills are well documented, and I wrote about him here, at The IDP Show. Once he learns the game, he’s going to piss off NFL receivers.

The Jaguars traded away significant draft capital to get Hunter, so I’d imagine he should see starter snaps right away. He and Brian Thomas are going to be a formidable duo, and he should some snaps as the CB2 opposite Tyson Campbell.

However, will he see enough snaps to warrant dual-eligibility? Liam Cohen says he’s going to play WR primarily, while learning the defensive system. It all depends on how many snaps on defense to keep the CB/DB tag. He’s probably still a top-2/3 rookie pick, but I’m not sure I’m expecting huge points from double-dipping on both offense and defense.
