Week 1 2025: IDP Match-up Analysis
I am here with the data and information to help you get your Week 1 IDP lineups set
It’s the beginning of another fantasy football season. Our teams have been drafted, our lineups are partially set, and we carry the hopes and dreams of a fantasy championship into Week 1. Where they are dashed just 5 minutes in thanks to an injury, or poor play. My stud LB only recorded 2 tackles! Cancel the season.
This is my first year of providing my own content, however, I’ll still have my green dot and projections over at The IDP Show. My goal is to provide you the info to help you make the right decisions for your IDP roster. I’ll touch on interesting nuggets and data to help you make the right lineup decisions. I will post this Friday/Saturday, so I won’t include the Thursday games.
Also, I might not touch on the cornerback position too much, but for any questions, check out The Cornerback Corner, where every matchup is analyzed.
Now without further or do, let’s get on to the Week 1 matchups.
Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Tyler Guyton looks like he could be ready for Week 1. He was responsible for 26 pressures and 6 sacks, finishing with a below average PFF 60.2 pass block grade. Jalyx Hunt should see him for most of the day. Hunt is in the streaming conversation and a DL3 this week.
Linebackers are an average matchup vs. the Cowboys. Zack Baun averaged 7.5 tackles/gm against Dallas last season and added 2 forced fumbles and a defended pass. I’m starting Baun, no matter. I don’t think Jihaad Campbell is a must start in Week 1.
I want to see Cooper DeJean’s usage in Week 1 before I start him. He’ll line up in the slot, but may not have many targets against Kavontae Turpin.
I love the matchup for Jack Sanborn. The Eagles allowed 10.5 solos and 8 assists to the LB position last season. The LB1 (Kendricks) averaged 8.5 tackles/gm. The Cowboys play a zone-heavy, tackle-friendly scheme. Sanborn is an LB1. Marist Liufau is an LB4 in deeper leagues.
So, things kind of changed a bit. Micah Parsons was traded to the Packers, for essentially, nothing. Two first round picks and Kenny Clark. The Packers got off light. So, this should bump Marshawn Kneeland into the top edge spot. He draws a tough matchup oppposite two of the top tackles in the NFL.
I am probably going to sit Sam Williams, Dante Fowler, and Donovan Ezeiruaku until I see how the EDGE2 rotation shakes out. At least in my opinion, trading Parsons signifies some confidence in Ezeiruaku.
Not a great match-up for safeties, so I don’t think Donovan Wilson is a must-start. Wilson recorded 4 total tackles over two games against Philly. The Philly offense allowed 12 total tackles/gm to the safety position in 2024.
